What every F1 driver said to the media ahead of the Dutch Grand Prix

Media day at Zandvoort for this weekend's F1 Dutch Grand Prix.

The big talking point was Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso's recent feud after their collision on the opening lap of the Belgian Grand Prix.

Follow all the reaction from today's interviews and press conferences here.

Guenther Steiner on Mick Schumacher's future

"I don’t know the contract he has got with Ferrari and I don’t want to know. But if it would help? For sure.

"Ferrari would ask to hang on to him we would speak about but I don’t know, we always speak with Ferrari and try and speak together but they will not make a decision for us. You cannot make a decision for other people as then you make it not work, that is the other thing.

"There is a lot of things, they are pretty simplistic and you all know them, it’s not like you can enforce something, but enforcing something sometimes you don’t get the best result – it’s counterproductive. You work together, and find the best solution for us and for Ferrari, and if you cannot find it you do something different. It’s a collaboration, it’s finding the best compromise for both parties."

Hamilton on Alonso's "idiot" remark

"It’s not a thing for me. It doesn’t change anything, it doesn’t really affect me in the slightest."

Ocon on Gasly at Alpine in '23

"Whoever will be on my side, the important thing for me is to guide the team, develop the car and to have respect between both drivers. With Pierre, we have a good relationship, there's no problem and we have respect between each other."

Schumacher: "That’s contractual matters which I can’t go into."

More from Mick

Schumacher isn't giving anything away about his future for 2023!

13:15
Why Mick?

"First of all, he's a good friend of mine. He's a great guy and he could perform if he joined a competitive car. That's just my words. Nothing will be taken by the team. The team knows that this will be my preference."

13:14
Ocon on his teammate for '23

"I know everything! There's a lot of talks since the departure of Fernando. I am sure the team will take the right decision. The people know the choice if I had any say would be Mick."

13:12
Schumacher on his future (well...)

"Well I see the pros that I will be racing this weekend and the weekend after. I am excited for this weekend and the car should be quite strong."

13:10
Russell on Mercedes' chances

"I don't the gaps will be as big. I am sure Max and Red Bull will be in prime position. We've got reason to be that it will be better than Spa."

13:08
Closer at Zandvoort?

"Yes, I think so. Spa suited is very well. Zandvoort is a completely different track layout. It's going to be interesting."

13:07
Verstappen on racing at home

"It was already incredible last year. It's an amazing track, especially on a quali lap. Amazing atmosphere so looking forward to the weekend."

Alonso on Hamilton "idiot" insult

"The heat of the moment, the adrenaline of the moment, fighting finally for the top two, top three made me say those comments that I should not say.

"At the same time I said after the race that it was a racing incident in my opinion. When you say something on the radio, in that moment you think you are talking to your engineer, so you are preparing the strategy, you start in the top three, you overtake Checo in the first corner and running second. And then something happens and you say something to your mate.

"To your colleague, to your engineer in that moment. Obviously you should be aware that it should be broadcasted, but it’s like if someone makes a hard tackle or something in football.

"In that moment you say something to your teammate or whatever, and in that moment it’s not broadcasted."

Norris: "I am not trying it first!"

12:52
Norris on his relationship with Sainz

"We have a long future ahead of us, hopefully with a lot of battles in the future. You never know how relationships change with battles, hopefully for wins and championships!"

12:48
Sainz on Ferrari strategy

"It's very difficult to generalise. I think you will need to pick one by one and analyse them. For me, it's all about improvement and finding ways to make the right calls at the right time. When there's been 2/3 or bad calls, there's been massive criticism. When I was at McLaren or Renault, when there was a big mistake, no one would come and point it out, and criticise you, as much as they do in Ferrari. While in Ferrari, everything seems bigger, the victory is bigger, the mistake is bigger."

12:46
Sainz on his friendship with Norris

"Maybe separating our paths made it easier."

12:42
Key differences between Red Bull and Ferrari?

More from Sainz: "For sure, they've been raising the bar every race but it doesn't seem that long ago we out-raced them by a big margin in Austria. I don't believe they've improved as much as they did at Spa."

12:39
Happy Birthday Carlos!
