Pit lane: Bottas and Zhou

After claiming a surprise pole in qualifying - his first since 2022 - can Russell now convert that into Mercedes' first win since the 2022 Sao Paulo Grand Prix? 

The Briton said he saw "no reason" why he can't win today, but it will be a big challenge given the weather conditions. 

Russell also has the small matter of having reigning world champion Verstappen alongside him for the run down to Turn 1. 

Red Bull are by no means the favourites in Canada after what has been a difficult weekend so far, but you can never rule Verstappen out. 

It has been raining on and off all day so far in Montreal, leaving the track soaked. 

The rain has just started again with 45 minutes to go until lights out. Looks set to be a wet start. But will it be a standing start? That remains to be seen.
