How Friday practice for the F1 Canadian Grand Prix unfolded

Making the most of the softs, Leclerc takes first off Verstappen again.

There's a shower just 5km away from the circuit.

Mega lap from the Frenchman to put his Alpine top of the pile. Less than a tenth ahead of Perez, whose lap was one on the softs.

Verstappen, Sainz, Leclerc, Perez, Norris, Gasly, Alonso, Ocon, Bottas and Stroll.

It's about time we see a Red Bull driver top of the timesheets. He's a tenth ahead of Leclerc now.

On the mediums, Sainz goes 0.3s clear of Alonso.

He's soon beaten by Leclerc, another 0.3s ahead of his teammate.

He pips Alonso to top spot. 

A 1m16.564s for the Ferrari driver, 0.2s ahead of Perez.

It's a 1m16.895s for Bottas, 0.8s ahead of Alonso.

19 of the 20 cars are out on track - just Albon in the pit lane.

Second practice is set to take place in just 10 minutes now.

An earlier start due to the shorter morning session following the CCTV troubles. 

"Further update - the local organisers have now completed their work to resolve the CCTV issues and following a test of the system the delay in the feed appears to have been rectified. We therefore anticipate that FP2 will start on time at 16:30 and run for 90 minutes.

"In the event of any further issues a backup system is in place to utilise the FOM trackside cameras as required."

Still no sign of the session restarting. 

"The delay will be longer as the CCTV is not synced correctly and until the issue has been fixed we cannot run on track. This system is a local installation and they are continuing to work to resolve the problem. The clock will continue to run down on FP1 and the session won’t be extended as there must be 2.5hrs between FP1 and FP2. We are looking at options to extend FP2."

No sign of the session restarting just yet. 

"The session restart has been delayed due to issues with the local CCTV infrastructure around the circuit. The local organisers are working to resolve the issue and until that time we can’t restart for safety reasons."

Our W14s were waiting at the pit lane exit, but an issue at Race Control has delayed the session restarting. Was only communicated when the drivers got to the end of the pit lane but both cars have been pushed back to the garage.

According to the FIA, the track cameras are not working properly. Session has been halted not just because of Gasly's stricken car - that has been cleared.

Bottas, Stroll, Alonso, Perez, Verstappen, Piastri, Magnussen, Hulkenberg, Zhou and Sainz. 

Red flag is out to clear Gasly's Alpine.

He's 0.4s ahead of Stroll at the top of the timesheets. 

Gasly is still stopped out on track so times aren't too representative.
