Gonzalez 'offered Pirelli role'
Marussia test driver Rodolfo Gonzalez says he has been offered the chance to take up a role with Pirelli for the 2014 season.
The Venezuelan has been involved with the Marussia team as test driver this year and has taken part in Friday practice at a number of events over the course of the season.
The 27-year-old, who has previously raced in British F3 and GP2, has now revealed that an offer is on the table to join Pirelli's testing roster, which has previously included the likes of Romain Grosjean, Jaime Alguersuari and Lucas di Grassi.
However, Gonzalez said he is currently evaluating his options for 2014 before making a decision.
"I have received an attractive offer to be Pirelli test driver in the coming season," he told El Universal. "First there are other options that I would like to explore, so fortunately, I can make a decision about the offer in February or March, as I really want to stay in Formula One."
Gonzalez added meanwhile that he preferred to keep working on a future in F1 before moving into other areas of motorsport.
"I think in two years I will accept the offers to race in categories such as in the US and Europe," he said, "but at the moment I prefer to wait and stay."
