A wet but drying track saw the majority of riders start on wet tyres while the likes of Darryn Binder, John McPhee, Dennis Foggia, Andrea Migno and Deniz Oncu gambled on slicks, costing Oncu his pole start.

Dry tyres only proved faster in the closing stages, by which time it was far too late to get anywhere near the runaway duel between race and title leaders Pedro Acosta and Sergio Garcia, who battled to the flag - including contact at Turn 3 on the final lap.

Garcia then fell without contact as Acosta made a pass for the lead at the penultimate turn, but such was their advantage he still remounted to finish second...
