Dry session, with the first of two red flag periods after ten minutes due to a heavy accident for Deniz Oncu out of the final corner. The Turkish rider, described as 'conscious', was taken away in an ambulance.

After a spate of later accidents, a further red flag period was issued with two minutes to go when Alberto Surra clipped the back of Yuki Kunni at the Turn 11 right hander, the fastest corner on the track. Like Oncu, Surra required treatment in the gravel trap and was declared 'conscious' before being transported to the Medical Centre.
