The second day of official 2020 MotoGP action took place at Sepang in Malaysia on Saturday.

Quartararo, quickest for Petronas Yamaha on day one while still using a 2019 bike, made his debut on the 2020 Factory-Spec M1 today.

The second day of official 2020 MotoGP action took place at Sepang in Malaysia on Saturday.

Quartararo, quickest for Petronas Yamaha on day one while still using a 2019 bike, made his debut on the 2020 Factory-Spec M1 today.

The Frenchman - who said yesterday he would just be learning the new bike and didn't expect to be fast - spent most of the day at the lower end of the top ten, before shooting to the top in the final hour.

Suzuki's Mir had led the early running with Miller then putting his Pramac Ducati at the top of both the lap and top speed standings for most of the day, until Quartararo's charge.

KTM test rider Pedrosa turned heads by snatching a late third place. The 31-time MotoGP race winner was just 0.090s from Quartararo, whose team-mate Morbidelli (using the A-Spec Yamaha) was fifth.

Vinales made it three Yamahas in the top six, with world champion Marquez the leading Honda in ninth despite a fall.

Aprilia's Espargaro made it all six manufacturers inside the top eleven on the 2020 RS-GP.

Triple MotoGP champion Jorge Lorenzo, who began his new role as a Yamaha test rider at the Shakedown, is due to ride on the final day of the Official Test.

Testing, which ran from 10am to 6pm, concludes on Sunday evening.
