Rebellion Racing has named Andre Lotterer, Neel Jani and Bruno Senna as the driver line-up of its #1 Rebellion R-13 as it returns to the LMP1 class for the 2018-19 World Endurance Championship.

With 2017 WEC champions Porsche exiting the sport at the end of last season, the #1 plate has been picked up by last year’s LMP2 champions Rebellion upon its return to the premier category. Rebellion retains its two-car entry into the WEC ‘Super-season’ and places former Le Mans 24 Hours winners Lotterer and Jani, teammates and co-drivers with Porsche last year, with LMP2 world champion Senna in its #1 car.

It’s second car, which takes the #3 entry sees Matthias Beche, Gustavo Menezes and Thomas Laurent team up “after weeks of interviews with each driver and member of the staff, the two teams appeared as the most complementary”, according to a Rebellion team statement.

Rebellion also sticks with Oreca for the 2018-19 WEC campaign using its Oreca 07 model for the newly designed R-13 entry into LMP1 with its full technical specifications to be announced at the Geneva International Motor Show on March 6.

“We are proud and happy to continue our collaboration because the historical links that exist between Rebellion Racing and Oreca are strong,” Calim Bouhadra, vice president of Rebellion, said. “The successes achieved together and by ORECA in recent years are undeniable and confirm the confidence we have in them. The project of development of our new LMP1 is reasoned and our close collaboration aspires to aim at ambitious successes.”

Rebellion will begin its preparations for the season over the next few months before the WEC Prologue at Circuit Paul Ricard on April 6-7.
