Burns rescued by Gearlink Kawasaki
Joe Burns has announced that he will now be riding for Gearlink Kawasaki in this season's MCE British Superbike Championship.
The 22-year old had been listed as the sole rider for the In House Developments team but, following an apparent breakdown in relations, had no hesitation in signing to ride the Gearlink Kawasaki ZX-10R. He will join Ben Wilson and Glenn Irwin, who will be riding Kawasaki ZX-6Rs in the Motorpoint British Supersport Championship.
"I'm elated to have signed for the Gearlink Kawasaki squad," Burns admitted, "I have known Michael, Norma and some of the other members of the team for many years now. I have always been impressed by the outfit they run. I believe the package is as strong as that of any other teams and I can't wait to get working on the track."
Burns is already familiar with the ZX10R, having competed on one in the National Superstock 1000 series for the past four, finishing joint seventh in last year's standings.
"Having been in talks with various riders over the past couple of months, with no advancement, I approached Joe earlier this week and, after a meeting, I am delighted to have signed him to ride the Gearlink Kawasaki ZX-10R Superbike for the 2015 season," team principal Michael de Bidaph confirmed, "I feel that Joe's approach and commitment to his racing will fit in with the Gearlink Kawasaki team's ethos."
