Scott Redding has tightened his grip on the Bennetts British Superbike championship title with a dominant double victory at Snetterton ahead of Be Wiser Ducati team-mate Josh Brookes.
The former MotoGP rider, who avoided a jump start penalty after initially moving and stopping in his grid slot before the lights went out, had a poor getaway as he dropped to third place at the first corner before trading overtakes with Tommy Bridewell.
As the trio of Ducati riders pulled clear of the chasing pack led by Brookes, Redding picked his moment to begin his charge into the lead.
With Redding getting the best acceleration and top speed on the back straight, he used his momentum to dive up the inside of Bridewell on Lap 4 to take second place and slot in behind his team-mate.
Redding then repeated the move at the same place on the Snetterton track on Lap 13 to take the lead before pulling clear over the final three laps.
As the Be Wiser Ducati rider doubled up on his Race 1 win, Redding has extended his BSB championship lead to 38 points and grabbed the maximum Podium Points on offer at Snetterton – which has also handed him the Monster Energy Race of Aces award.
With Brookes having to settle for second place again, it capped the perfect results for Be Wiser Ducati with pole position and a double 1-2.
Bridewell bounced back from his crash while leading Race 1 to complete an all-Ducati podium in third place for Oxford Racing Ducati.
Tarran Mackenzie was the sole contender to the podium trio but his charge was ended on Lap 11 when he slipped off his McAMS Yamaha at the Wilson hairpin while running in fourth place.
That promoted Andrew Irwin to fourth place for Honda Racing ahead of Peter Hickman on the Smiths Racing BMW who held off Christian Iddon after a race-long battle with the Tyco BMW rider.
Hector Barbera, standing in for the injured Glenn Irwin at Quattro Plant JG Speedfit Kawasaki, capped an impressive Snetterton debut with seventh place ahead of Xavi Fores on the Honda.
Another stand-in rider also caught the eye, with Michael Laverty stepping in for Keith Farmer at Tyco BMW, as the Northern Irish rider claimed ninth place in race two as Luke Mossey completed the top 10 on the OMG Racing Suzuki.
Dan Linfoot grabbed 11th place for Santander Salt Yamaha ahead of Ryan Vickers (RAF Regular and Reserves Kawasaki) as Bradley Ray (Buildbase Suzuki), Claudio Corti (Team WD-40 Kawasaki) and Luke Stapleford (Buildbase Suzuki) rounded out the points places.
A nightmare race weekend for McAMS Yamaha’s Jason O’Halloran was completed by a heavy high-side on Lap 4, while both Danny Buchan and Josh Elliott crashed on the sighting lap in separate incidents meaning they failed to make the start of the race.
