Kyle Ryde makes it two wins from three at Silverstone to launch himself into an unlikely title contention aboard the Buildbase Suzuki

BSB Silverstone - Race Results (3)

Kyle Ryde followed up his spectacular maiden British Superbike Championship victory earlier today with an even more comprehensive success in the final race of the weekend at Silverstone.

The youngster - making his BSB debut this season on the factory-supported Buildbase Suzuki GSX-R1000R - has proven a revelation from the start of the year, ever since he demonstrated front-running pace out of the box on his debut at Donington Park.

Come round three at Silverstone and he has proven almost untouchable, Ryde coming remarkably close to an unprecedented triple victory on the Hawk Racing-run machine.

Indeed, having finished a close second to Tarran Mackenzie in race one, Ryde constructed a smart win in race two by waiting until the closing stages to strike. However, in race three he was utterly dominant from the start, leading lights-to-flag.

Initially fending off the attentions of McAMS Yamaha rider Jason O’Halloran, by the mid-way stage Ryde started to make his break and he’d keep going all the way to the chequered flag to win by more than two seconds.

Battling back from his race two DNF, Mackenzie consolidated his race one win with a run to second, while O’Halloran made it a brace of podiums with another third place.

Despite missing out on the podium, a trio of fourth place results for Glenn Irwin still saw him out-score nearest title rival Tommy Bridewell, giving him a 35 point lead over both him and Josh Brookes after they moved level on points.

To his credit. Bridewell pushed hard in race three to claw back some necessary points in fifth, the Oxford Racing Ducati rider hampered by starting race one from the back, with the frantic action preventing him from getting the fast race lap he needed to start towards the front in race two and three.

Brookes headed home VisionTrack Ducati team-mate Christian Iddon on a tricky day for the reigning champions, with Lee Jackson, Andrew Irwin and Luke Mossey completing the top ten positions.
