Hamilton joins Team HARD for 2020 season

Nic Hamilton will return to the British Touring Car Championship grid after securing a drive with Team HARD to drive one of its Volkswagen CCs for the 2020 season.

As in 2019, Hamilton will once again be backed by the ROKiT telecommunications brand as the half-brother of the current six-time Formula 1 world champion Lewis embarks on his third campaign in the BTCC.

The 27-year old took part in eight of the ten BTCC rounds last season with Motorbase Performance but was forced to pull out of the 2019 campaign two rounds early following Knockhill due to funding issues.

Having raced a Ford Focus RS last season, Hamilton will switch to a Volkswagen CC, which he will test in Spain ahead of next month's pre-season test at Silverstone.

“I’m super excited to be with Team HARD. Racing for the 2020 season,” said Hamilton.

“Last year was so challenging for me. Coming close to facing a reality where my career might be over was really tough, but people stuck by me, kept me focused and upbeat and I’m now in a great place to start a new chapter behind the wheel. Team HARD. Racing is the most professional outfit I’ve worked with.

"The squad’s tenacity, motivation and belief inspire me. The team deserves a great season from me and I’m going to give it my all."

Hamilton was the final driver to be announced at Team HARD for 2020 and will race alongside Jack Goff and Mike Bushell in the squad's Volkswagen stable, while Carl Boardley will also compete under the Team HARD banner behind the wheel of a WSR-built BMW 125i M Sport.
