Turkington leads Team BMW 1-2 in second practice

Defending four-time British Touring Car champion Colin Turkington continued to dominate proceedings at Donington Park after topping the FP2 timesheets ahead of Team BMW team mate Tom Oliphant in second.

As was the case in the opening session, Turkington once again rose to the fore towards the end of the 40-minute running, but was this time followed by his BMW stablemate Oliphant, with 0.244s separating the two WSR-built 330i M Sport machines.

With the track temperatures rising from the morning running, Turkington's 1'09.705s lap wasn't quite as quick as his earlier FP1 effort, but it still placed the reigning champion almost 0.5s ahead of the nearest non-BMW runner.

That driver came in the form of Toyota's Tom Ingram after he ended his practice running with the third fastest time in FP2 ahead of the Infiniti Q50 of Ashley Sutton, who once again impressed towards the top in fourth.

Motorbase Performance returnee Rory Butcher took a great stride up the order from his FP1 effort to finish the second session in the top-five in fifth ahead of the sixth placed Excler8 Motorsport Hyundai I30N of Chris Smiley.

Adam Morgan was another driver to enjoy a better run of it during FP2 after the Mercedes A-Class driver propelled himself up the order into seventh.

Matt Neal once again proved to be the fastest Honda runner during FP2, but fell to eighth on the timesheets after being Turkington and BMW's closest challenger in the morning session.

Senna Proctor further galvanised Hyundai's opening weekend promise by placing his I30N firmly in the top-ten ninth, while Bobby Thompson set the tenth fastest aboard his Audi S3.
