The Mercedes A-Class driver had to overcome severe pressure, as well as a mid-race safety-car period, in order to clinch his first BTCC win of the season, as the championship battle was played out in spectacular fashion behind him.

Moffat endured the thick of end of the race with both title protagonists Tom Ingram and Colin Turkington glued to the rear of his Laser Tools Racing Mercedes.

As Ingram and Turkington traded blows in second and third, Moffat ultimately prevailed for the win, but only 0.2s ahead of Ingram in second.

At one point on the final lap, it looked as though Turkington was set to muscle his way past Ingram to re-extend his championship lead. However, Ingram held his ground despite the pair making light contact at Luffield.

As a result, Turkington will now carry a 34-point lead into the final round at Brands Hatch ahead of Ingram.
