2017 in review: Another strong campaign from Haas. The team secured its first double points finish in Monaco and repeated the feat in Japan. While it was unable to replicate a better result than the fifth place it managed in its debut season, a more consistent showing helped Haas to nearly double the amount of points it scored in 2016, as the American squad once again secured eighth place in the constructors’ championship.
What’s changed for 2018? Consistency. 2018 presents Haas with the chance to build upon its position with a set of stable regulations for the first time. During pre-season testing, team principal Guenther Steiner highlighted stable regulations as an area that had enabled Haas to improve its processes and build upon its foundations, with a clear goal of moving up the grid this season.
Key man - Romain Grosjean. If Haas and Grosjean can get on top of the brake issues that hindered the Frenchman over the past two years, expect him to lead the US squad’s charge in 2018 with consistent top ten appearances. Qualifying is a key area in need of improvement for the team. If it can start higher up the grid more regularly, that will open up the possibility of scoring bigger points.
