Mercedes
After a length spell in the shadows, both Mercedes and Manchester City emerged out of nowhere to become two of the most dominant, game-changing forces in their respective arenas in the last five-to-seven years.
While there has been a significant amount of investment and huge number of resources to hand, it’s about using them right. Both Mercedes and Man City have managed to do so impeccably in recent years, putting the puzzle pieces together in ways that the likes of Ferrari and Man Utd just haven’t.
Even in the face of a resurgence from their big rivals wearing red, both teams have been able to step up another gear and get even better, smashing record after record along the way, disrupting their sports with the levels of success they have attained.
The similarities even run to the man pulling the strings at the very top. Just as Man City manager Pep Guardiola used to play football, Toto Wolff was himself a racing driver back in the day (albeit a little less successful than he is now!).
How long will the success last? The way things are going, it’s hard to see it slowing down or stopping any time soon…
