2024 F1 Hungarian Grand Prix - Race - as it happened

Piastri, Norris, Hamilton, Verstappen, Leclerc, Sainz, Alonso, Perez, Stroll and Tsunoda. 

It looked like Verstappen got the move down on Hamilton but he runs wide. Perfect for the McLarens. 

Verstappen begins to challenge Hamilton for third on track as Norris closes in on Piastri, who's just made a mistake. 

Piastri is 4.3s ahead of Norris. Hamilton, Verstappen, Leclerc, Sainz, Russell, Alonso, Stroll and Tsunoda complete the top 10. 

He's upped the gap over Norris to 3.9s now as Leclerc sets the fastest lap of the race in the fifth. 

Piastri, Norris, Hamilton, Verstappen, Leclerc, Tsunoda, Russell, Sainz, Perez and Gasly. 

Leclerc comes in for a new set of hard tyres. He rejoins in fifth ahead of Tsunoda.

Verstappen and Sainz come into the pits for new hard tyres. They rejoin in fifth and ninth respectively. 

He puts in another fastest lap of the race to reduce the gap to Norris to just 2.2s.

A good stop from McLaren for Piastri which allows him to rejoin ahead of Norris and Hamilton. 

Verstappen inherits the net lead of the race ahead of Leclerc and Sainz.

In response to Hamilton's pit stop, Norris comes in for a set of the hards. He rejoins ahead of the seven-time world champion.

Who will respond to Hamilton ahead as he looks to go for the undercut? 

Piastri has opened up a 3.3s gap to Norris, who is 3.5s ahead of Verstappen. Hamilton continues to perform well - 1.1s off the Red Bull.

Russell is looking to go long on the hards but he's stuck behind Bottas' Sauber. Perez is also behind them two. 

Piastri is 3.0s clear of Norris, while Verstappen, Hamilton and Leclerc complete the top five.

Sainz is running 3.5s behind his teammate as Stroll, Tsunoda, Bottas and Russell complete the top 10.

He's started to close in on Verstappen ahead - just 1.0s between Hamilton and Verstappen on Lap 9.

A lot of the drivers who have starts on softs have already come into the pit lane. This is probably in response to Hulkenberg, who was setting great pace on the hards.

Piastri, Norris, Verstappen, Hamilton, Leclerc, Sainz, Alonso, Stroll, Albon, Magnussen, Ricciardo, Tsunoda, Bottas, Ocon, Russell, Sargeant, Perez, Zhou, Gasly and Hulkenberg.

Verstappen gives Norris the place back on track so that won't be a penalty. 

Sainz overtakes Alonso into Turn 1 as he makes the most of DRS.

He's been noted by the stewards for leaving the track and gaining an advantage. Verstappen went off at Turn 1 and got ahead of Norris.

What a great start from the McLaren driver as he builds a 1.6s lead over Verstappen. Norris, Hamilton and Leclerc complete the top five.
