F1 Mexico City Grand Prix - how Verstappen beat Hamilton

Verstappen's soft tyres look to be in good condition. He's now 2.1s ahead of Hamilton at the front of the field.

Perez is 3.4s behind the seven-time champion in third.

Verstappen puts in a fastest lap of the race to up his lead over Hamilton to 1.8s.

The incident (previously mentioned) involving Gasly and Stroll is now under investigation. 

Verstappen, Hamilton, Perez, Russell, Sainz, Leclerc, Alonso, Bottas, Ocon, Norris, Tsunoda, Ricciardo, Zhou, Vettel, Gasly, Stroll, Albon, Schumacher, Latifi and Magnussen.

"Just need to try and break this tow Max. You're doing a great job."

Finally some action in the midfield! Gasly launches it on Stroll into Turn 4 but brakes too late, forcing both drivers wide.

He might have to give that position back.

Hamilton puts in another fastest lap of the race but the gap remains stable at 1.6s. 

"I'm sliding everywhere man. I have no f**king grip."

The gap at the front has been increased to 1.7s. 

A reminder that Verstappen is running on the softs, while Hamilton is on the more durable mediums.

The gap between the top two remains at 1.6s. 

Looking further down the order, Bottas is 0.6s behind Alonso and can't overtake the two-time champion currently. 

We spoke too soon! Ricciardo makes the most of DRS and the extra straight-line speed to move into 12th at Turn 1.

An easy move for the Australian in the end. 

In the midfield - a tidy defence from Zhou there to keep Ricciardo behind for 12th. 

Verstappen has increased his lead up to 1.4s, while Perez is running 2.9s off the lead in third.

The Ferraris look slow though. Sainz is already 8.4s off the lead in fifth. 

The gap between the top two has remained the same - 1.2s after Hamilton set the fastest lap of the race on Lap 5.

Verstappen, Hamilton, Perez, Russell, Sainz, Leclerc, Alonso, Bottas, Ocon and Norris.

Hamilton has reduced Verstappen's lead down to 1.2s - are the medium tyres working better already?

Bottas is right behind Alonso for seventh. 

Verstappen is 1.5s ahead of Hamilton, while Perez is running 3.0s behind in third.

Softs for Verstappen, Perez, Sainz, Leclerc, Tsunoda, Schumacher, Vettel and Latifi. 

Mediums for everyone else.
