USF1 trucks on <i>eBay</i>

The continuing demise of the USF1 project was confirmed when two of the trucks that it has hoped to use in its debut season appeared for sale on internet auction site eBay.

The bespoke trailer units, bought from reigning F1 champions Brawn GP ahead of the 2010 campaign, were seized under a UK High Court order and can now be viewed by prospective purchasers here. Each unit could prove to be something of a bargain, with eBay bidding unlikely to raise anything like the amount they are worth, even as used items, and will be sold to the highest bidder, irrespective of the amount offered.

"As a keen motorsport fan, it is certainly one of the more interesting seizures we've made," Sheriff's Office director David Carter told pitpass.com, "The trailers were recently bought from Brawn GP by the judgment debtor and really are something special. We've already has a lot of interest and are now selling them via eBay."

Both trailers are believed to have been used by Brawn for testing, with one capable of carry three F1 cars plus additional equipment, and comes complete with a mobile machine shop. The other unit was primarily used for carrying equipment, but also has office space that would have been used by the team's engineers.

The beleaguered USF1 operation hadn't even had time - or maybe resources - to re-livery the trailers, which remain in their original Brawn GP colours, having failed to make the opening round of the grand prix season. Despite claims that the team would try to launch a new bid when the 13th grid slot it was to have occupied is re-opened for 2011, the latest news all but confirms its death, following revelations that all staff had been placed on indefinite leave.
