Lewis Hamilton is to reappear on the hit BBC tv show Top Gear this weekend in an attempt to break the record for the quickest F1 driver to get behind the wheel of its 'reasonably-priced car'.

The Mercedes driver appeared on the show for the first time back in 2007 during its tenth series, posting a time of 1min 44.7secs at the wheel of the Suzuki Liana used for the challenge.

It means Hamilton currently sits fifth on the F1 driver list, behind Sebastian Vettel, Rubens Barrichello, The Stig and Nigel Mansell - although Hamilton's time was set in wet conditions.

Hamilton will now make his second appearance on the show on Sunday, where his target will be to beat Vettel's time of 1min 44.0secs.

"This time the track is dry and Lewis is taking no prisoners in his attempts to smash the lap record," the BBC said.

Jenson Button, Kimi Raikkonen and Mark Webber are the other existing F1 drivers to have taken on the challenge.
