Want an F1 car?
Okay, so it might be one of the least successful cars in modern F1 history, but Pirelli is considering putting its 2011-spec HRT chassis up for grabs on eBay.
The tyre manufacturer acquired the car when the HRT squad closed its doors for the last time, and planned to use if for promotional, rather than development, purposes. However, the anticipated interest never materialised and Pirelli is now looking to off-load the car, which remains in its original livery, having never reached the stage of being reclothed in the Italian company's famous yellow-and-black colours.
The car was one of those driven by Tonio Liuzzi, Daniel Ricciardo and Narain Karthikeyan during the 2011 season, with the Italian taking a best finish of 13th in Montreal. The campaign was HRT's second in an F1 involvement last three seasons, ending with the last race of 2012 in Brazil.
"There doesn't seem to be a lot of enthusiasm, it's a bit of a shame really," motorsport director Paul Hembery admitted to Reuters over the weekend, "Our marketing department said nobody seems to want to use it, so I said let's put it on eBay for charity.
"We're trying to find a category for an F1 car and we'll probably run [the auction] for quite a few months to see what money we can raise."
