Sergio Perez believes his driving is receiving more attention from critics because he is racing for McLaren.

Perez, who joined McLaren from Sauber for the 2013 F1 season, was slammed by sections of the media for his driving at the Monaco Grand Prix last month.

But the Mexican believes the reason for he has become such a talking point, is because he is now driving for McLaren:"If you look at my race last year in Monaco I started last, and I made five or six moves into the chicane, and yet nobody commented on those," Perez told Sky Sports News.

"So, when you are at McLaren, the spotlight is on you, people comment a lot about what you do right, what you do wrong. You definitely get more attention."

Perez has also drawn criticism from other drivers' in the field this season, including Kimi Raikkonen and even team-mate Jenson Button. However, the 23-year-old insists his mind is fully on the job.

"When you come to McLaren there is no need to change. All you have to do is do the interviews, and after that go and focus 100% on your job. At the end of the day that's all that matters." he added.
