Marussia's last-ditch attempt to get to the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix has failed.

Following talks with investors, the team - which had ceased trading nearly two weeks ago - had been attempting to make it to the F1 season finale in Abu Dhabi, with freight being prepared on Wednesday morning and Ferrari engineers present at the Yas Marina circuit in Marussia team kit.

However, Marussia's former driver Max Chilton confirmed on Twitter on Wednesday evening that the attempt had failed despite the team's efforts.

Marussia needed to present a car for scrutineering by 1600 on Thursday to be registered as entering the race.
