VIDEO: Button wishes Alonso luck for Indy 500

Jenson Button has wished Fernando Alonso good luck ahead of his maiden Indianapolis 500 test outing.

Jenson Button has wished Fernando Alonso good luck ahead of his maiden Indianapolis 500 test outing, as the former F1 world champion gears up his return as stand-in for Alonso at the Monaco Grand Prix.

After Alonso made shockwaves across the motorsport world by announcing he would skip the Monaco Grand Prix in order to take on the Indy 500 race, his former McLaren team-mate Button has been confirmed as his replacement for the Monaco race.

Button, who is on a one-year sabbatical from F1, has given his support to the two-time F1 world champion stating: "Good luck, stay safe and win - what else is there to do?"

The British driver also says he hopes to secure 'lots of juicy points' for McLaren-Honda at Monaco alongside Stoffel Vandoorne.

The Woking-based team has failed to secure a top ten finish so far in 2017, while the team has technically only reached the chequered flag on just two occasions in the opening four rounds.

Alonso is enjoying his maiden Indy 500 test at the iconic American oval circuit today (3rd May), before returning to Europe for the Spanish Grand Prix.
