Sir Frank Williams discharged from hospital ahead of Christnas
Sir Frank Williams is recovering at home in time for Christmas after he was discharged from hospital today.
The eponymous founder of the Williams F1 team was admitted to hospital after falling ill earlier this month but an update on the team's social media accounts confirmed he has since returned home on Christmas Eve.
In respect of the family's privacy, it didn't reveal the reason for Sir Frank's latest hospital visit beyond saying he was in a stable condition.
"We're delighted to say that Sir Frank has been discharged from hospital and is now on the mend at home,
"The Williams family would like to thank everyone for their support during this difficult time."
Sir Frank founded the F1 team that bears his name in the 1960s before entering the premier category in 1977, whereby it has proceeded to become on the sport's most successful monikers.
Enjoying its heyday in the 1990s, Williams has clinched nine constructors' championships and seven drivers' titles in that time, though Sir Frank would delegate day-to-day running of the team to his daughter Clare in 2013.
The recent sale of the team to Dorilton Capital signalled the exit of the Williams name from the running of the outfit itself, though for now it retains the same name.
Williams suffered a point-less campaign in 2020 despite coming close on several occasions with George Russell especially. The young Briton will enter into his third season with the team in 2021, alongside Canadian team-mate Nicholas Latifi.
It recently announced Jost Capito would come on board as CEO from next season.
