Formula 1 confirmed on Wednesday that Vietnam will become the latest nation to host a grand prix, with the first running of a race in Hanoi scheduled for 2020.

As well as announcing the new race, F1 confirmed the track layout for the street circuit in Hanoi, featuring 22 corners and coming to a length of over 5.5 km.

The circuit takes inspiration from a number of classic circuits including Suzuka, the Nürburgring and Monaco, and is designed in conjunction with Hermann Tilke, the architect of many of F1's most recognisable tracks.

The circuit has already been reviewed by FIA race director Charlie Whiting, who visited the site earlier in October en route to Japan.

Whiting said he thought a grand prix in 2020 "shouldn't be a problem," with an April date slot being announced by F1 officials as part of Wednesday's unveil.
