From his 16 Formula 1 race wins in 66 starts to his four near misses for the F1 world title, Moss is considered the greatest driver never to be crowned world champion. Moss also made F1 history by become his nation’s first home winner of the British Grand Prix in 1955 at Aintree.
While Moss’s efforts were not solely contained to F1, as he made history at the Mille Miglia in 1955, across his entire career he notched up 212 victories from 529 races across all disciplines.
His influence on motorsport and the legacy that followed his feats inspired future British F1 world champions including Graham Hill, Jim Clark and Sir Jackie Stewart, while his influence also shone on modern day F1 greats Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton.
Moss, who continued racing in historic cars until he was 81, passed away on Sunday after a long battle with illness at the age of 90.

Whilst we share a tribute to the untimely passing of a racing icon who will be dearly missed, his racing legacy will live on in the hearts of many as similar homages are paid by the giants of the sport including Ferrari, Mercedes and Hamilton himself.
