Trident pursue legal case for payment owed by Ferrucci

Former Trident Motorsport driver Santino Ferrucci is being legally challenged by the team over missed payments of over €500,000 after being sacked by the team earlier this year.

The Haas F1 development driver was sacked by the Formula 2 team in July following a spate of incidents including deliberately colliding with teammate Arjun Maini and driving his car from the support paddock to the race pits with only one glove and on his mobile phone. Ferrucci was banned for two Formula 2 rounds along with a total of €66,000 worth of fines for the incidents.

Ferrucci was banned for two Formula 2 rounds along with a total of €66,000 worth of fines for the incidents.

Ferrucci’s race deal was terminated by Trident on the grounds of his behaviour and missed payments to the team which has now been taken to the Court of Milan by the Italian team who state it is owed €502,000 by Ferrucci’s guarantor company run by his father.

“Trident Motorsport informs to have obtained by the Court of Milan an order of payment for an amount of Euro 502.000, plus interest and legal fees, against Mr. Santino Ferrucci and its guarantor, an American company represented by Mr. Michael Ferrucci, in relation to the driver’s failure to pay the amounts due under the contract,” a team statement from Trident Motorsport read.

“Trident Motorsport confirms its intention to proceed with any legal action in order to obtain compensation for all damages suffered, well above the amount so far retained, as interim measure, by the Court.”

After being axed by the Trident team in F2, Ferrucci has switched to the IndyCar Series with Dale Coyne Racing, taking part in the final two rounds of the 2018 campaign following his stand-in debut for the team at the Detroit Grand Prix.

Ferrucci also hit the headlines when it was leaked the American driver submitted a request to race with a livery bearing President Donald Trump’s ‘Make America Great Again’ slogan at the Silverstone round. The request was declined by the FIA on grounds of a ban on running political motifs.
