Ferrari Formula 1 junior Antonio Fuoco recorded his second Formula 2 victory of 2018 by controlling the sprint race in the Abu Dhabi finale.

The Charouz Racing System driver, who won the Monaco opener but has not featured on the podium since Hungary, got the jump on reverse grid polesitter Roberto Merhi on the run to Turn 1 and dominated proceedings throughout.

Fuoco crossed the line two seconds clear of Lando Norris, who pulled off a last-lap overtake on ex-F1 driver Merhi to claim second place in his final F2 race with the championship-winning Carlin outfit before graduating to F1 next year with McLaren.

Norris' ninth podium finish of 2018 means the Briton has leapfrogged Alexander Albon into runner-up spot in the drivers’ standings. Merhi completed the podium for his second rostrum appearance of the year and his first since Monaco.

Newly-crowned F2 champion and Williams-bound George Russell made a brilliant start to gain several places on the opening lap as he rounded out his title-winning campaign with a distant fourth-place finish for ART Grand Prix.

Prema’s Nyck de Vries fended off a late charge from Louis Deletraz to take fifth, while Artem Markelov finished seventh despite a number of off-track excursions, ahead of Albon, who took the final point on offer in eighth.
