Nyck de Vries has secured pole position for the Formula 2 Monaco feature race topping the second qualifying group.
The ART Grand Prix driver produced a late 1m 20.676s to take provisional pole position, with Luca Ghiotto missing out by two-tenths of a second in Group B.
With de Vries taking pole position it moves him on to equal points with Ghiotto in the F2 standings, with both drivers 26 points behind leader Nicholas Latifi, but the Canadian driver will start his Monaco race weekend on the backfoot with a three-place grid penalty for failing to stop for the red flight at the end of pit lane in practice.
With the unique qualifying format for Monaco, with the grid split into the two groups, Callum Ilott lines up in second place having topped Group A, pushing Ghiotto into third place.
Mick Schumacher lines up in fourth place ahead of Latifi on the results, but the Canadian driver will be shuffled down to eighth place on the grid following his penalty.
Latifi’s penalty promotes Sergio Sette Camara, Sean Gelael and Anthoine Hubert, with Nobuharu Matsushita and Louis Deletraz rounding out the top 10.
