Trident to run one car at Monza due to Hubert crash investigation
Trident will run just a single Formula 2 car at Monza this weekend after Belgium authorities impounded Giuliano Alesi’s car due to the ongoing investigation into Anthoine Hubert’s fatal crash.
Hubert succumbed to injuries he sustained in a serious accident on the second lap of Saturday’s opening F2 race at the Belgian Grand Prix, a crash which has also left Juan Manuel Correa recovering in intensive car after suffering two broken legs and a minor spinal injury.

Hubert succumbed to injuries he sustained in a serious accident on the second lap of Saturday’s opening F2 race at the Belgian Grand Prix, a crash which has also left Juan Manuel Correa recovering in intensive car after suffering two broken legs and a minor spinal injury.
Alesi was caught up in the incident but was uninjured, however, his car has been impounded to help with the subsequent investigation.
As a result, Trident will have only one car for the latest round of the 2019 campaign at Monza, which will be used by Alesi, meaning teammate Ralph Boschung will not compete at this weekend’s Italian Grand Prix-supporting event.
Boschung is expected to return to the F2 grid for the penultimate round of the season at Sochi on September 27-29.
In a team statement, Trident added that Boschung “would like to extend his deepest condolences to Anthoine Hubert’s family, friends and the team, and also wishes Juan Manuel Correa the best in his recoveries.”
Arden will also run just a single car for Tatiana Calderon this weekend.
