Armstrong makes switch to Hitech GP for 2022 F2 season
It will be a third different team in three years for Armstrong who has previously driven for ART Grand Prix (2020) and DAMS (2021).
In both seasons, Armstrong finished 13th in the drivers’ championship, although he showed flashes of brilliance in both campaigns.
In 2020, Armstrong finished on the podium twice in the two rounds at the Red Bull Ring to start the year off, while he took his maiden F2 win in the series’ first visit to Jeddah a year later.
The 21-year-old will have a point to prove as he was dropped by Ferrari’s driver academy for this year.
Speaking of the announcement, Armstrong said: “I’m thrilled to be joining Hitech this season in Formula 2,” said Armstrong. Team Principal Oliver Oakes brought me to Europe a few years back and I saw Hitech in the early days. Since then, it’s transformed into one of the powerhouses of Formula 2 and 3.
"I’m looking forward to be working with a successful group of people and giving it everything I’ve got in my new Hitech team this year.”
He will team up with Red Bull-backed Juri Vips for 2022.
The new F2 season gets underway in Bahrain on March 18-20.
