Pescarolo bid ends in drama.
Henri Pescarolo's decision to run a Peugeot 908 HDi-FAP in a bid to return to the podium at the Le Mans 24 Hours has ended in a heavy accident for Formula Nippon frontrunner Benoit Treluyer at the start of hour 14.
The Frenchman appeared to have rolled the car through the gravel trap and into the tyre wall at Tertre Rouge, requiring the attention of the emergency services in order to be extricated from the remains of the #17 that had been running in fourth place in the hands of Jean-Christophe Boullion and, particularly, the impressive Simon Pagenaud.

Early reports claim that Treluyer was awake and talking to his rescuers, despite the worrying erection of screens to shield the extraction from onlookers. An inflatable stretcher was prepared for the Frenchman, but his injuries had yet to be disclosed as the waiting ambulance headed for the medical centre.
The factory Peugeot teams continues to hold first and second places overall, after the #1 Audi spent an longer-than-usual stop to ensure that its ducts were clear of debris.
