Rossi: Acosta's impact on Moto3 'unbelievable', a 'great talent'
Three races into his Moto3 grand prix career and rookie Pedro Acosta has scored a near perfect 70 out of 75 points with 2nd-1st-1st race finishes.
The first of the Red Bull KTM Ajo rider's victories was especially remarkable, having started from the pit lane in Qatar, while his second came courtesy of a patient last-lap pass on Dennis Foggia in Portimao.
Among those to praise the young Spaniard's performances was nine-time world champion Valentino Rossi, who keeps a close eye on the junior class while following the likes of VR46 Academy members Andrea Migno and Nicolo Antonelli.
"[Portimao] was impressive, because [Acosta] did another fantastic race, his approach and his impact on Moto3 is unbelievable because he is first position in the championship and has already won two races, second-first-first," said Valentino Rossi.
"So it's incredible. He made a perfect race today, also in the battle. So I think he has a great talent, he's very strong. And I'm very happy for Migno who is coming back on the podium after a long time, after a solid weekend."
Turning to the premier-class, Rossi added that title leader Fabio Quartararo is looking "very strong" after two "great" back-to-back wins, but that Marc Marquez's Portimao comeback showed he is already "at the top level" and will be one for the title favourites to watch.
Round four of the world championships takes place at Jerez next weekend.
