With 47 wins, 114 podium finishes and three MotoGP world championships to his name – to go alongside his pair of 250cc world titles – Lorenzo’s recent struggles since joining Repsol Honda have done little to dent his incredible records since joining the premier class in 2008.
For the time being, Lorenzo still holds the record for most points scored across a single season with 383 back in 2010 on his way to his first MotoGP world crown with Yamaha – a stunning 85% scoring rate – a record currently under threat by Marc Marquez who needs 36 points across the final three races of the season to surpass the feat.
A race winner for both Yamaha and Ducati, Lorenzo’s riding style stamped his authority on the class by being the definition of smooth and silky as he often bolted clear at the front and never looked back.
Where Lorenzo’s career will take him with Honda remains to be seen but the Spaniard’s skill and determination has ensured he becomes an iconic member of MotoGP’s history over the 15 years.
