MotoGP Gossip: Dovizioso undecided on MotoGP future

- Ducati sporting director Paolo Ciabatti believes if MotoGP can put on 10 races in 2020 it was would a “remarkable” feat given the tight and ongoing coronavirus crisis measures. Ciabatti also confirmed none of the Ducati team members across its entire sporting operation have tested positive for COVID-19, with the majority living in the worst-hit regions in Italy. - On a similar note, KTM boss Pit Beirer anticipates the Austrian brand’s racing budget to be slashed for 2020 given the lack of events, so he isn’t against the prospect of a reduced MotoGP season in order to save costs. (Speedweek)

- Francesco Bagnaia says it is “almost” more difficult to ride a MotoGP bike in the video game than in reality, after finishing runner-up to Alex Marquez in the inaugural MotoGP Virtual Race at the weekend. (GPOne.com)

- Pol Espargaro says Jorge Lorenzo’s retirement call was an excuse to leave Honda, while avoiding embarrassment on both sides, which has allowed him to take a year out before considering a full-time MotoGP return with Yamaha. (AS.com)

- Maverick Vinales is recovering well from his motocross training accident which forced him to stay in hospital overnight almost three weeks ago. With the 2020 MotoGP season suspended, the Yamaha rider has had ample time to recover and feels both he and his team are in a strong position when the season begins.
