Iannone explains Porsche window break

Andrea Iannone has explained the background to a video he posted on social media this week, showing the MotoGP race winner breaking the back window of his Porsche with a hammer (see below).

Fighting back laughter in the paddock at Silverstone on Thursday, the Ducati rider said: "So, I have the key inside and when I finished putting gasoline in the car I tried to open the door and it was locked.

"This was a big problem for me because I have 100km more to get to my destination and it was 1:30 in the morning. I called the Porsche assistant but they didn't have a solution. I thought a little bit and the unique idea is break the window!"

Turning to on-track matters, Iannone is confident he will be able to continue his recent run of form at this weekend's British MotoGP.

"I'm very happy. I won my first race in Austria and we continued in Brno with a very good weekend. Unfortunately for the race we have a small problem with the front tyres. We choose not the best tyre for the conditions, but I rode very fast and tried my best to control everything in the race. Now is another weekend and I think we are in a very good moment. During the second part of the season I have a good feeling with the team and the bike. And it is very positive for us."
