Rossi saddened to miss 'very special' race

Injury victim Valentino Rossi says he is missing a ‘special’ race this weekend at Misano after suffering a broken leg in a training accident.

Rossi has been ruled out of his home round of the MotoGP World Championship in Italy but says he is making good progress and has already began some light physiotherapy.

“It’s a big pity that I can't be at my home GP. For sure, I was really looking forward to the round in Misano, because riding in front of the fans there is something very special, but I have to treat the injury with care.

“It’s a big pity that I can't be at my home GP. For sure, I was really looking forward to the round in Misano, because riding in front of the fans there is something very special, but I have to treat the injury with care.

“I know the team is supporting me during the rehabilitation process. Fortunately I’m fine, I’m not too bad and I’ve already managed to start some light physiotherapy,” added Rossi, who only lives 20 minutes away from the Marco Simoncelli circuit.

“The recovery time isn’t short, but I will do everything I can to get back on track as soon as possible. I have to say thanks to everyone for the affection you have shown me during these days. See you soon.”

Rossi’s championship hopes will take a massive hit this weekend. The nine-time world champion is currently fourth in the standings, 26 points behind Andrea Dovizioso.
