Andrea Dovizioso has faith in Brembo’s move to resolve its brake failure which saw Ducati teammate Jorge Lorenzo suffer a dramatic exit from the 2018 MotoGP season opener in Qatar.

Lorenzo was forced to jump off his Ducati at 110mph due to a brake problem after 12 laps which Brembo confirmed was an issue with its braking system.

The brake manufacturer released a statement yesterday outlining that “the issue has been identified and resolved so that this anomaly can’t recur”, while Dovizioso hinted it could have been down to a braking material which he has opted not to use due to concerns to what happened to Lorenzo.

“As they [Brembo] explained it was an issue with the brakes and it can happen to anybody and it is something very dangerous for our sport,” Dovizioso said. “I think they have everything under control.

“That material we used last year and we didn’t want to continue. There was a big problem but we were not sure and we didn’t want to use it.

“Maybe Jorge felt better and he wanted to use it, I don’t know, it is something that needed to happen [Brembo’s fix] as it is dangerous in our sport if you don’t have brakes. But everything is on the limit and it is not so easy to manage everything in an easy way.”

The referenced media source is missing and needs to be re-embedded.

Dovizioso is aiming to follow up his winning start to the 2018 MotoGP campaign with a strong result in Argentina having suffered a cruel exit 12 months ago at the South American event when he was taken out by Aprilia’s Aleix Espargaro.

The Italian rider’s best result in Argentina came in 2015 when he clinched second place behind Yamaha’s Valentino Rossi.
