Dani Pedrosa has claimed top spot after Friday practice at Brno in sweltering hot conditions with a one-tenth advantage over nearest rival Danilo Petrucci.
With track temperatures reaching up to 50 degrees celsius at the Czech Republic circuit during FP2, all riders battled for grip as Marc Marquez led the early running at the start of the session from Repsol Honda team-mate Pedrosa.

Dani Pedrosa has claimed top spot after Friday practice at Brno in sweltering hot conditions with a one-tenth advantage over nearest rival Danilo Petrucci.
With track temperatures reaching up to 50 degrees celsius at the Czech Republic circuit during FP2, all riders battled for grip as Marc Marquez led the early running at the start of the session from Repsol Honda team-mate Pedrosa.
A number of riders experimented with set-up and wing options during the afternoon session, with Petrucci trialling a new wing specification, with Pedrosa bolting to the top of the times during the late time attacks using a new medium front and a new soft rear Michelin.
The Spanish rider, who has confirmed he will retire from MotoGP at the end of the season, was the only rider to duck into the 1m 55s bracket to lead ahead of Pramac Ducati’s Petrucci by just over a tenth of a second.
Alvaro Bautista has also continued to impress on the Angel Nieto Ducati after challenging inside the top five in FP1, with the Spaniard taking third place with his final flying lap also using fresh tyres at the end of the session.
MotoGP rookie Hafizh Syahrin stormed up the order with his last fast lap to lead the Yamaha charge, with the Monster Yamaha Tech 3 rider taking fourth place ahead of Ducati’s Andrea Dovizioso.
Maverick Vinales was another to find significant gains in FP2 to move up to sixth place for Movistar Yamaha just in front of team-mate Valentino Rossi in seventh, while Avintia Ducati’s Tito Rabat held on to his top 10 spot using the GP17.
FP1’s timesheet-topper Johann Zarco was shuffled down to ninth place for Monster Yamaha Tech 3 with Marquez, winner at Brno 12 months ago, rounding out the top 10.
That saw Suzuki pair Andrea Iannone and Alex Rins narrowly miss out on a provisional Q2 spot, with only FP3 to come on Saturday, with Pramac Ducati’s Jack Miller behind the duo in 13th place.
2016 Czech Republic MotoGP race winner Cal Crutchlow ended FP2 down in 14th fastest ahead of Ducati’s Jorge Lorenzo who tried out a new fuel tank shape on his GP18.
