Oliveira heads day two at Misano

Tech3 KTM's Miguel Oliveira set the fastest lap time during the second day of private MotoGP testing at Misano.

Official timing is not available but Crash.net understands that the Portuguese, riding his RC16 for the first time since February's Qatar test, set a best lap of 1m 32.9s.

That was 0.1s under the fastest day one time, by factory KTM's Pol Espargaro, who managed a 1m 33.1s on Wednesday.

Oliveira and team-mate Iker Lecuona have the same bike spec as factory riders Espargaro and Brad Binder this season. The lap times of rookies Lecuona and Binder were not available.

Of the others with a known Wednesday time, Ducati test rider Michele Pirro matched Espargaro's 1m 33.1s while Aprilia's Aleix Espargaro improved by half-a-second over yesterday with a 1m 33.4s on the new RS-GP.

Team-mate Bradley Smith, who will start the season alongside Espargaro, was slightly slower than on day one with a 1m 34.2s. The Italian factory seems to have decided on its 2020 engine spec, ahead of the June 29 deadline for Concession teams, but also has plenty of other new parts available this week.

Suzuki test rider Sylvain Guintoli is also present for the first multi-team test since the end of lockdown, but the Frenchman's lap times were not known.

A third day of testing at the San Marino Grand Prix venue, which was recently resurfaced, is available on Thursday.
