Takaaki Nakagami warms up for Aragon MotoGP with top time
Takaaki Nakagami got his Aragon MotoGP race day off to a positive start with theh fastest in morning warm-up at Motorland Aragon, as he looks to maintain his stellar run of 2020 consistency.
The Japanese rider, on the Honda RC213V that Marc Marquez dominated on at Aragon last year, will start seventh on the grid for this afternoon's race as he looks to consolidate Honda's best qualifying of the year with Cal Crutchlow in third and Alex Marquez 11th.
He will also be bidding to make it ten MotoGP top ten finishes in a row, as well as potentially become the 16th rider this year to step foot on the MotoGP podium.
Front row starter Maverick Vinales was second fastest to complete a sweep of front-running times in all pre-race sessions, while Alex Rins looked in good form for Suzuki in third place.
Fresh from his first Q2 showing of the 2020 MotoGP season, Repsol Honda's Marquez was fourth best from Joan Mir on the second of the Suzukis, while pole sitter Fabio Quartararo played it safe with the sixth best time.
In seventh was his Petronas SRT Yamaha team-mate Franco Morbidelli from top Ducati rider Danilo Petrucci, who in turn was just ahead of his team-mate - and new enemy - Andrea Dovizioso, following their qualifying skirmish.
This afternoon's Aragon MotoGP will see Quartararo start on his fourth MotoGP pole position of the year, from Vinales and Crutchlow.
They will be chased behind by Morbidelli in fourth place, from Jack Miller and title contender Mir on the Suzuki.
