UPDATE: After being examined at the medical centre, Repsol Honda reported that Marc Marquez 'has no major injuries, suffering only a contusion', a verdict also confirmed by further checks at a local hospital.

Marc Marquez, returning to the scene of his broken right-arm last July, has suffered a massive accident at the end of FP3 for the Spanish MotoGP at Jerez.

After accelerating out of the Turn 6 (Pedrosa) hairpin, Marquez lost the front of his Repsol Honda at 180km/h as he tipped into the Turn 7 left-hander, sending him skimming across the gravel and into the airfence.

The eight-time world champion was clearly shaken but eventually able to walk away and returned to the pits on the back of a scooter, fortunately without any apparent damage to the right arm, which has already required three rounds of surgery.

Marquez, who only returned to MotoGP action last time in Portimao, was twelfth at the time of this fall and will now be among those heading to Qualifying 1 this afternoon.
