Acosta wants ‘To learn, have fun and enjoy each runout on track’, at Le Mans
Pedro Acosta’s third win in four Moto3 races this season has done little to dampen the hype surrounding him, as the 16 year-old Spaniard takes a 51 points lead into Le Mans.
At face value, Jerez seemed to be his trickiest race weekend so far as he needed to advance through Q1, before ultimately qualifying in 13th position.
However, Acosta made his way through the pack with relative ease just as we witnessed during the second Qatar Grand Prix before taking his third win in a row.
Le Mans will be a new experience for Acosta as he’s never competed there before, but based on his performances in Doha - again a new circuit to him, it’s highly unlikely to cause any issues.
"This weekend we will work to improve our performance in Free Practice and, consequently, in qualifying. I have never been to Le Mans before, so we will have to adapt quickly," added Acosta.
"However, I like the way the layout looks, and my first impression is good. The aims for this Grand Prix are once again the same as we set for ourselves at previous rounds: To learn, have fun and enjoy each runout on track."
After winning the first race of the season, team-mate Jaume Masia has endured a difficult three race run.
Two ninth place finishes before being taken out of a podium place by Deniz Oncu at the final corner in Jerez has left Masia fifth in the standings, 56 points down on Acosta.
Speaking ahead of this weekend’s French GP, a race where he finished fourth last year, Masia said: "The target for the French Grand Prix is the same as always: To work well, on the right path, and find a good setup in order to be able to fight for a positive result.
"We will try to make as few mistakes as possible and do our best on Sunday.
"Obviously, I will try to fight for the podium and pick up as many points as we can. We will give our 100% to be prepared for the race."
