Italian MotoGP, Mugello - Race Results

Valentino Rossi and Alvaro Bautista tangled after just a few turns and fell hard.

Marc Marquez, Bradley Smith and Andrea Dovizioso were all carrying injuries sustained on Friday. Smith also fell heavily in morning warm-up.

Pramac Ducati's Ben Spies withdrew from the event on Saturday, meaning he will miss his third race in a row.

Ducati test rider Michele Pirro was making his third appearance of the year, this time as a wild-card on the factory's 'lab' bike.
