Having agreed to undergo random checks, Grubb was reinstated into the sport before being suspended indefinitely in September 2006 when he refused to take part in a random test at Richmond.

Grubb made one unsuccessful attempt to qualify for a Sprint Cup race in 2002, but failed to qualify the #54 Team Bristol Motorsports Chevrolet for the Pontiac Excitement 400 at Richmond.

More details surrounding his death are set to be revealed today [Thursday].
