The Samsung/RadioShack 500 will not run until Monday after persistent rain and an ominous forecast kept the Winston Cup teams in the garages for a second day in succession.

For the first time in the seven-race-old 2002 NASCAR Winston Cup season, bad weather stopped play with Sunday's Samsung/RadioShack 500 at the ultra-fast 1.5-mile Texas Motor Speedway being postponed until Monday.

For the first time in the seven-race-old 2002 NASCAR Winston Cup season, bad weather stopped play with Sunday's Samsung/RadioShack 500 at the ultra-fast 1.5-mile Texas Motor Speedway being postponed until Monday.

Almost two hours after the scheduled start time on Sunday and with the vast Texas grandstands almost empty, NASCAR finally made the call with more rain and even thunderstorms predicted for the remainder of the afternoon and early evening.

The race is now set to start at 6pm UK time on Monday weather permitting.

All 43 starting cars will remain inside the circuit overnight after passing inspection early on Sunday morning. Teams are not allowed to touch their cars.
