Victory the sole goal for Bobby Jr.

The No. 25 Team Marines Busch squad and driver Bobby Hamilton Jr head to Dover International Speedway with one thing in mind - to get back into victory lane.

After a third place finish at Dover in the spring, both team and driver are feeling good about their chances this weekend of conquering the "Monster Mile." With only eight races remaining in the 2002 season, they are ready to begin battling their way back into the top-five in the points standings and for the Team Marines, the battle begins this weekend.

The team have run hot and cold in recent weeks with one good result seemingly followed by a bad one and so on. Since finishing a strong second in the Inside Traxx 300 at Nashville in early June, Hamilton Jr has recorded just four top ten finishes in eleven races and dropped from fifth to ninth in points. But like his team, Hamilton Jr feels that Dover is a great place to start a fight back.

"We had a great run at Dover in the spring, finishing third, so I am really looking forward to going back this weekend," he said. "It's an unusual track and probably one of the toughest on the circuit but it's also one of my favourites. Physically it's pretty hard on your body because you're in the corners for so long and travelling at such a high speed. The constant g-forces take a toll on you.

"It's real quick for a one-mile track, so you have to keep your eyes open and always be aware of what everyone is doing around you. There are usually a lot of accidents and they happen fast. It's is always a pretty exciting race that produces lots of beating and banging. It should be a great race and I feel pretty good about our chances.

"We had a great car there in the spring but the guys at the shop have been working hard preparing a car that they say is even better. If that's true, we should have a good shot at getting the Team Marines Ford back into victory lane where it belongs."

#25 crew chief Fred Wanke concurred. "We're looking forward to returning to Dover, especially after such a great run there in the spring. We have a great racecar ready to unload on Thursday and we'll be using a set-up pretty close to what we had in June.

"Goodyear is bringing a new tire compound this weekend, so I am not sure of the effect that that will have on our set-up. The first practice session on the new tire will really determine what we do the rest of the weekend. I have two goals for the weekend. One is to qualify one spot better than we did in the spring, which would put us on the pole. The second is to finish the race two spots better, which would put us in victory lane on Saturday. I really don't think that's too much to ask! "

Hamilton, Jr will drive chassis No. 16 this weekend at Dover. Chassis no. 16 has one top five and two top-ten finishes with a fifth place finish at Pikes Peak International Raceway in July and a sixth place finish at Darlington Raceway last month.
