Crew-chief change for Harvick.

Todd Berrier has been appointed as crew-chief to Kevin Harvick's #29 GM Goodwrench sponsored Richard Childress Racing outfit beginning this weekend at Bristol with former chief Gil Martin moving to the post of team manager.

"Todd and Kevin (Harvick, driver for the GM Goodwrench team) worked great together in the Busch Series so we made the change to jumpstart the season for the GM Goodwrench team," said Richard Childress, president and CEO of Richard Childress Racing Enterprises, Inc. "Gil has won races for us with Harvick and Robby Gordon so we're glad that he is staying and will be playing a key role with the team."

Berrier was the crew chief for Harvick in 2000 and 2001 with RCR's No. 2 ACDelco NASCAR Busch Series team. That union produced eight victories, eight pole positions, the series' Rookie-of-the-Year Award for Harvick in 2000 and the championship in 2001. Berrier did double duty in 2001 when he also served as crew chief for Jeff Green and the No. 30 America Online team's eight-race schedule, earning the pole for the Sharpie 500 at Bristol in August that year.

"Having Gil and Todd working together like they did in the Busch Series is the biggest thing I'm excited about with this move," said Harvick. "Gil brings a lot of organization and people skills to the table so he will be helping the GM Goodwrench team streamline everything it has. Todd has come in to open our minds up to trying some different stuff to get this race team turned around."

With RCR, Martin has two NASCAR Winston Cup victories (New Hampshire in November 2001 with Gordon and Chicago in July 2002 with Harvick) and one pole (Daytona in July 2002) and one NASCAR Busch Series victory (Pikes Peak in July 2001 with driver Jeff Purvis in the No. 21 Chevrolet).
