"Even though I reside in North Carolina now, St. Louis is where my heart is," said Wallace. "The St. Louis Cardinals are an institution and I couldn't be more proud to represent them and race in front of all those great Missouri fans. Growing up as a kid, I was a die-hard Cardinals fan, whether they won or lost. I can remember working on racecars as a teenager and always listening to the Cardinals game when it was on. I'm just glad that Major League Baseball wanted to be a part of this and in turn, I can help promote the great tradition of St. Louis baseball."
Major League Baseball (MLB) is also looking forward to partnering with Wallace and reaching out to the NASCAR fans.
"We are extremely excited to partner with Bill Davis Racing and watch Kenny Wallace take to the race track in the St. Louis Cardinals themed race car," said Howard Smith, Senior Vice President of Licensing for Major League Baseball Properties. "NASCAR has a passionate and devoted fan base, just as the St. Louis Cardinals do, and a collaboration between these two successful entities should be an exciting event."
The entry will be collaboration between Bill Davis Racing and Michael Waltrip Racing.
"I am really grateful to Bill Davis who made this whole deal possible," said Wallace. "This is my dream and he has helped me fulfil it. Bill has an excellent Busch Series program in place and he is providing me an awesome opportunity. I'm also grateful to my good friend, Michael Waltrip, who is providing me all his crew and equipment for the race weekend. They do a great job over the wall for Michael during the Busch races, so I'm confident in their ability as well."
